What is geocaching?
Geocaching is a sport - where people hide ‘treasure’, and then post the coordinates of the item on the geocaching website. It’s a fun sport, often enjoyed by families and is a good activity to get some exercise! Geocaching is similar to orienteering - but much more fun. You need a GPS to get started - these can be bought from £50 and up.
The sport started in the USA, but soon found it’s way to many other countries around the world. There are now literally millions of caches dotted around the globe - many of which are in the UK. You will almost certainly have a cache within a few miles of your home. Finding a cache is as simple as setting up a free account at geocaching - and popping in your postcode - you can do this on the geocaching new-user page.
I recommend this book to new-cachers - it’s full of helpful hints and gives you a good head-start:
