EEE PC for geocaching?

Some of you may have heard of the new ASUS EEE PC - a sub-notebook PC with wifi built in. One of the reasons I bought the EEE PC is so that I can be on the internet from virtually anywhere - especially when out geocaching.

The EEE is a bit like overkill to some people - they wonder why I can’t use a PDA etc. - but the EEE offers something the PDA doesn’t - it’s just a normal PC which is far better for me.

If you’re interested in an EEE - I suggest you check out my other site (EEE Stock) that has listings of stock-levels at various retailers, as they are very difficult to put your hands on one at the moment. You can put a pre-order in at firebox - and they will dispatch when they get stock.

Suffice to say - the EEE PC is a god-send when out and about, even if it’s just for using in your car.

Hi Chris,

I got an ASUS EEE 4G myself today. I’m quite a geocacher myself, and I was wondering how to make the most effective and efficient use of my EEE. Got any hints, tips, clues etc. for me? Especially software and map wise?

@Peter - I have a 3G wireless connection on my EEE PC - so I just browse on over to streetmap and google maps if I’m dubious about where I’m walking.. I’m starting to look into software so I might add something on here about software you can use on your eee when out+about.
